In Coginiti, it's super easy to interact with files either already located on your hardware or the ones you want to store there. This functionality allows you to store SQL that you're in the process of developing and then save finished assets in the Catalog for further personal or collaborative use. So, you can open existing SQL files and govern your SQL both directly in them or Coginiti Catalog.
🔎 TIP: For details, check out our guide on using Coginiti Catalog.
Working with a File
1. Go to the File tab in the main menu, left-click on it, and select the needed command Open or Save.
2. Once you click on the Open or Open Folder file command, Coginiti will prompt you to select a local file explorer, which then becomes visible in the Files panel, as shown below.
3. After you select and open the required file, the Query Panel's header tab will display the Symbol to let you know you're working with a file now. And the (*) symbol will indicate that you've made some changes and should save the file. But as our application automatically maintains the state of all its tabs, you can exit Aginity without saving the file, and all your changes will still be there. You do need to save your SQL file, though, if you plan to open it in another editor.
4. Using our Save as File command, you can also save your tab's data as a file in any directory:
5. Afterward, you'll be able to open this directory and work with a file within Coginiti's 'Files' panel. The application provides menu options such as Open with a different encoding, Edit, Copy, Cut, Paste, Rename, Delete, Move, etc.
Working with a Folder
1. To manage an entire folder, select the Open command in the main 'Files' panel and find your folder in the file explorer.
2. Now, you can open a folder stored on your hard drive and manage the SQL files within it. Once the folder is opened, you'll see its entire structure in the object browser, as shown below.
3. To edit any file in your folder, just double-click on it. Entities in Coginiti's 'Files' panel and your physical directory are synched. Hence, if you change, add, delete a file, and so on in Coginiti, it will be modified in the directory, too, and vice versa.
4. Right-click on a file within a folder to use helpful editing options that Coginiti provides:
